As sons and daughters of God, we are “new creatures” with “recreated spirits” because we have been born-again (John 3:1 – 6). Therefore, we are to function differently than other people. Quite simply, we are to function in the earth as Jesus did in the time that He walked the earth and manifest God’s glory, because we are now like Him (1 John 1 – 3). As a man, Jesus was completely dependent upon His Father God and the Holy Spirit because He knew that without Them, He could not function in this earth as “God’s Son” and accomplish all that He was sent to do. He depended upon the Holy Spirit to teach Him, to lead Him and to guide Him. He knew that as a “Son” He couldn’t do anything by Himself. As a “Son”, He knew that He could only do what He had been taught by observing His Father (John 5:19 - 20). Sons and daughters who desire to please their fathers and follow in their footsteps mimic/imitate their fathers. If we want to function as sons and daughters of God in the earth, the same is true for us. Like Jesus, we simply cannot live our lives glorifying and pleasing unto God in this earth without the Holy Spirit. We too must be taught and led. This is why God has sent Him to indwell within us to help us become mature sons and daughters as Christ Himself was (Ezekiel 36:26 – 27; John 14:16 – 17 and 1 Corinthians 3:16). Beloved, as God’s children, we bear the responsibility of representing our Father God in the earth. Our lives are to reflect Him and serve as a recommendation for Him. His glory, His very nature and all that He is should be manifesting in and through us. This is what the world needs and what God desires. They don’t need another gimmick or quick fix. The world and all of creation needs to see and experience the glory of God revealed through us as the manifested sons and daughters of God (Romans 8:18 – 19).If you desire this, then I encourage you to make 2010 the year that you strive for a deeper relationship with God through the Holy Spirit. It’s the only way that God’s glory can be manifested through you. And it is the only way that you are translated into God’s image and likeness to serve as light in this dark world, drawing others to Him. |
