“And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and make for thee and for thy son.” 1 Kings 17:13
In the midst of a famine, Elijah asked a widow in the land of Zarephath to make him a little cake to eat. She only had a handful of meal and a small cruse of oil, but she obeyed the man of God, expecting that to be their last meal. However, she obeyed and was blessed for it. The Bible says that her meal and her oil never ran out until God loosed the rain in the land. Now she was not the only poor widow in Zarephath, so why was she chosen? Perhaps, it was because God knew her heart and her willingness to give.
So many believers have testified that in their darkest hours they were led by God to give until their deliverance came. When we release our all into God’s hands, He will bless it and multiply it. It is a matter of faith and that is what God respects. He will always give you much more than you gave. He’s just that kind of God.
Father God, I realize that all I have belongs to you. Give me a spirit of giving, even when, in my eyes, I can’t really give it. It is yours. Do as you see fit. In Jesus’ name, AmenBack to Blog
