We Care House

The mission of the We Care House and Garden

To meet the physical needs of the people in order to position them so their spiritual needs can be met without distraction. It is an outreach of St. Peter’s where we give food and clothing to our members, visitors and the community. Fresh vegetables are grown in the garden to help supplement the food distributed to our community.

  • 1st & 3rd Saturday  – 9:00 am – 12:00 pm

Food Share

Donations of Non-Perishable Items

At the We Care House, we believe that together, we can make a significant impact on alleviating hunger in our community. We've come up with a simple yet effective way for you to contribute – by donating food based on your last name. It's an easy and meaningful way to ensure that families in need receive the nourishment they deserve.

Please help with donating non-perishable food items (review the “Food Share” list).  You can bring all donated items to the We Care House on the first and third Saturdays, from 9:00 AM – 12 noon.

Find your last name's designated food item and contribute to this important cause. Your generosity is deeply appreciated. Here's a simple guide on what food items to bring based on the first letter of your last name:

N - O Canned Fruits

P - Q Canned Fruit Juices

R - S Peanut Butter/ Jelly

T - V Rice/ Powdered Milk

W - Z Boxed Potatoes

A - B Canned Goods

C - D Grits and Oatmeal

E - F Canned Vegetables

G - I Breakfast Cereals

J - K Dry Pastas, Macaroni, Sauces

L - M Canned Meats

Will you help us alleviate food insecurity in our community?

Between 2010-16 North Carolina has regularly ranked among the top ten states with the highest percentage of citizens experiencing food shortages; over 1,764,000 of our neighbors or nearly one in six.

NC has several cities with some of the highest levels of food insecurity in the nation: Greensboro, High Point, and Winston-Salem.

Our annual We Care Run/Walk for Hunger 5K will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023. This year’s race will be LIVE and will also have a virtual component. In 2021, the We Care Run/Walk for Hunger 5K raised $11,768 to provide food to children and families in our community through the We Care House and the We Care Vegetable Garden. This year, our goal is $40,000.
